Things To Do In The Area

You can’t choose where you’re born, however, you can choose where you live. Once in awhile, you find just the right place to put down roots; a place big enough to take advantage of a wide variety of cultural and culinary offerings, but small enough for you to get away from the hustle and bustle of urban life, getting lost in the serenity of nature – exactly what we love about living in Memphis.
Our city is the second largest in Tennessee, and it’s been around since 1819. Ask any Memphian, and they’ll tell you that the wide variety of things to do, see, and eat is what makes Memphis undeniably itself. Just a few of the unforgettable experiences are:

  • It’s been said that before anyone did anything, Elvis did everything. Since every King has his castle, you can visit Presley’s at the iconic Graceland. It’s one of the most visited private homes in America, and while you’re there, you can get a feel for the history of rock music and the home of one of our favorite sons.
  • Maybe your musical tastes are a little more highbrow? Check out what’s playing at the Levitt Shell. Yearly, 50 free concerts are performed as a way to bring the community closer through the power of music.
  • If you love college football, there’s no better event than the Southern Heritage Classic. Longtime rivals Jackson State University and Tennessee State University go head to head, and the game is surrounded by epic tailgate parties, live music, and celebrity golf tournaments. You can’t go wrong by yelling, “Go Tigers,” since that’s the name of both teams.
  • A longstanding tradition you won’t see anywhere else but Memphis is the Peabody Duck March. Since 1933, an intrepid band of mallards march to and from the lobby of the Grand Hotel at 11:00 and again at 5:00. They preen for photographs and even take a quick swim in the lobby’s marble fountain.
From delicious BBQ on Beale Street to the sobering National Civil Rights Museum, Memphis has a little something for everyone. It’s a great place to visit, and an even better place to live. Contact us by phone or online, and we can help make that happen for you.
